Terms of service

Effective 10 September 2026.

1. The service

Alfie is a family scheduling service. It connects to calendar accounts you authorise — Google, Microsoft, Apple iCloud, other CalDAV servers, and published ICS links — copies the calendars you select, shows them as one household schedule under the sharing rules each member sets, writes your changes back to the calendar an event belongs to, and answers questions about the schedule through an assistant. Using Alfie means agreeing to these terms.

2. Your account

3. Households and profiles

A household is shared: its admins can invite and remove members, and every member sees the schedule to the extent each calendar's owner has shared it. Only connect a calendar you are entitled to connect, and only share what you are entitled to share — a work calendar may be governed by your employer's rules.

A profile for a child is created and managed by an adult in the household. By creating one you confirm you are that child's parent or guardian, or that you have their guardian's permission, and you take responsibility for what is put on that profile's calendars.

4. Acceptable use

Do not:

5. Third-party services

Alfie is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google, Microsoft or Apple. When you connect one of their accounts, that provider's own terms and privacy policy continue to apply to it, and their service may change or withdraw the access Alfie depends on. Alfie cannot be responsible for a third-party service being unavailable, changing its interface, or losing or altering data on its own side. The assistant is powered by a Google Cloud model; see the privacy policy for what is sent to it.

6. Pricing

Alfie is free to use today. When paid plans or usage packs are introduced, current users will be told at least 30 days in advance, and nothing already stored will be lost.

Features may be added, changed or removed; where a change materially reduces what the service does, users will be notified.

7. Your content

Your calendars, events and the profiles you create remain yours. You grant Alfie the permission it needs to host, copy, transmit and display that content for the purpose of running the service for you and the households you belong to — nothing more, and only for as long as you keep the account. Deleting your account ends that permission, as described in the privacy policy.

8. Disclaimers

Alfie is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the extent the law allows. Alfie does not warrant that synchronisation will always be immediate or complete, that a third-party calendar service will accept every change, or that the assistant's answers will be free of error. Do not rely on Alfie alone for anything where a missed or wrong entry would cause harm — medication, travel, legal deadlines, medical appointments. Check the source calendar when it matters.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Alfie is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, lost data or missed appointments arising from your use of the service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim — which, while Alfie is free to use, is zero. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

10. Termination

You may have your account deleted at any time: write to support@alfie.family from the address on the account. The effect on your data is described in the privacy policy. Alfie may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, that puts the service or other users at risk, or where the law requires it. Alfie may also discontinue the service: if that happens, account holders will be given reasonable notice and time to export or delete their data.

11. Changes to these terms

These terms may change as the service does. The effective date at the top will be updated and, for a change that materially affects you, account holders will be told by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Alfie after that date means accepting the new terms.
